This policy describes information handled by the independently operated Red Sox Digest website and newsletters. External services, including our merchandise store and embedded media providers, also have their own privacy policies.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, name if provided, and authentication records. We keep membership status, newsletter section preferences, billing customer and subscription identifiers, and purchase records. Stripe processes payment details; this website does not store full card numbers.
We also keep information you submit, such as comments, support messages, article reactions, saved stories, and referral participation. If you join the referral leaderboard, your chosen display name and confirmed referral count may appear publicly. Published comments and their display names are visible to other readers.
How we use information
We use this information to provide account access, recognize membership benefits, process purchases, deliver selected newsletters, operate comments and referrals, respond to questions, prevent abuse, and understand publication performance. Authorized staff receive access appropriate to their work; subscriber administration and billing tools are restricted.
Cookies, website activity, and email measurement
Cookies and browser storage support sign-in, security, referral attribution, saved preferences, and tutorial state. Our article analytics record visits and share-button activity and count reactions and comments. Browser or account identifiers help avoid counting the same activity repeatedly.
Newsletters may include a small image and tracked links that record email opens and link clicks associated with a delivery. We use these records to measure readership. Our newsletter tracking records do not store IP addresses or user-agent strings, although hosting and delivery providers may process technical request information. Image blocking, privacy tools, and automated scanners can affect these measurements. Authentication emails are not instrumented by our newsletter tracking system.
You can manage cookies in your browser and block remote email images in your email application. Blocking necessary cookies can prevent sign-in. Change newsletter sections in My account or use the unsubscribe link in a newsletter. Unsubscribing from newsletters does not cancel a paid membership; cancel renewal separately through membership billing.
Service providers and external content
We use providers including OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Supabase for reader authentication, Stripe for payments, and Resend for email delivery. Information needed for these services is processed by those providers. Providers may process information in the United States or other countries.
Playing embedded YouTube videos or externally hosted podcast audio can send request information to the media provider, which may use its own cookies or tracking. Following links to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, social platforms, or the Printify-powered merchandise store takes you to services with their own practices.
Existing subscriber records
For readers moving from our previous publication platform, we use imported subscriber records and historical readership reports to preserve preferences, recognize existing subscriptions, and maintain publication history. Claiming an imported membership requires verification of the matching email address. Moving platforms does not itself authorize a second subscription.
Retention, security, and your requests
Records are retained as needed to operate accounts and subscriptions, maintain financial records, handle disputes, and meet applicable obligations. Backups and legally required records may remain after account closure. We use access controls and service-provider security features, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
To request access, correction, export, or deletion of your information, email theredsoxdigest@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity. Available rights and exceptions depend on applicable law. Please identify any active paid membership so account closure and cancellation can be handled together.
Children and policy updates
This membership service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it. We will update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice where required.
